US plans new push on Arab-Israeli peace: Clinton
WASHINGTON: The United States provides a new impetus to the promotion of a comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace, the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday, suggesting a greater share of the U.S. to try to resolve the Israeli- Palestinian.
President Barack Obama will expose the U.S. policy toward the Middle East and North Africa in the coming weeks, said Clinton and Arab policy makers in the United States in a speech that focused on the Israeli Palestinians.
Obama launch direct peace talks Israeli-Palestinian last year did not work and he is under pressure to make a new initiative or face the prospect of the Palestinians who seek the blessing of the General Assembly UN for a Palestinian state.
"The president will talk in more detail on the politics of America in the Middle East and North Africa in the coming weeks," Clinton said at the Forum on American-Islamic world, a gathering sponsored by Qatar and the Brookings Institution in Washington think tank.
"America's fundamental interests and values have not changed, including our commitment to promote human rights, resolving longstanding conflicts, threats against Iran and defeat al Qaeda and its allies extremists, "she added. "This includes renewed quest for comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace."
