Lady Gaga leads MTV's O Music Award nominations

NEW YORK: Lady Gaga and Tyler the Creator lead MTV recently launched O Music Awards with three nominations each.

MTV announced Tuesday the categories and nominees for its new Web-based price performance, a festival of digital music. Categories include better coverage of the fans, dancing and even the most viral hashtag best music.

Lady Gaga and rapper Creator Tyler are among the nominees for the most innovative artists have to follow artists on Twitter. Lady Gaga is also nominated for favorite animated GIFs, a kind of avatar. Tyler the Creator, the more buzz-about hip-hop group Odd future, is also nominated for his remix of Lykke Li "Follow-Rivières."

Winners will be decided by a vote of fans on social media with results presented in real time. The awards will be presented in a live webcast of one hour on April 28 at the sites of MTV and mobile applications.

Other nominated artists include Kanye West, Flaming Lips, Nicki Minaj, Arcade Fire and Justin Bieber. Among non-artists are nominated comedy site Funny or Die, the music discovery service Pandora and comedy Andy Samberg, Lonely Island.

The network says that the success rates for O music will not be assessed by the ratings or number of views, but its cultural influence.

"We will not judge by the number of flows that we are on several sites," McCormack said. "We will judge by what we can influence the conversation about the digital music as part of the preparations and beyond. "(AP)
