Eight killed as security forces attack militant hideouts in Orakzai



Kalaya: At least eight militants were killed in Orakzai tribal region on Friday that security forces attacked their hideouts with helicopter gunships. Three insurgent hideouts were destroyed in action in Orakzai area of ​​Shakar Tangi.

In addition, a search was also conducted in Darra Saifal, Kasha and areas of Samana tribal region.

There was no independent confirmation of the action that the area is remote and off limits to journalists.

Earlier Thursday, two security guards were killed when a remote-controlled bomb hit their vehicle in Orkazai.

Cons in an attack shortly after, government forces have killed eight militants, local officials said.

Orakzai is one of the most lawless areas in the north-western Pakistan's tribal, which is composed of seven districts near the Afghan border.

Pakistan launched a major operation in Orakzai in March last year after militants fled an offensive sweep in the neighboring district of South Waziristan tribal.

Last year military officials said lower Orakzai had been cleared, but the militant threat persists in some pockets of the upper part of the area.
