Rain delays 4th day start of Eng-SLanka Test


CARDIFF, United Kingdom: the rain meant no play before lunch on the fourth day of the first Test between England and Sri Lanka at Sophia Gardens here on Sunday.

The referees decided to bring lunch forward by half an hour at 24:30 (1130GMT), hoping to make a prompt start of the afternoon session.

England 287 for two overnight in response to Sri Lanka first innings 400, a deficit of 113, a game where he has been playing every day is affected by bad weather.

Alastair Cook was 129 not out and Jonathan Trott 125 not out.

This match is the first in a series of three tests.
