Explosion ejects manhole cover, hurts 5 in Brazil
RIO DE JANEIRO: A manhole cover iron ejected by an explosion in an underground powerhouse climbed feet in the air, then crashed into a taxi, injuring its driver in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.
A police officer says four bystanders were also received minor injuries after an explosion Friday night in a network of electric transmission lines and gas lines.
The officer said that the explosion threw the manhole cover several feet (meters) into the air.
He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to news media.
