A BILLION DREAMS COME TRUE: INDIA WIN CRICKET WORLD CUP


India, on Saturday defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets to lift the World Cup Cricket 2011 Trophy. Captain MS Dhoni and vice-captain sleeves stellar Gautam Gambhir helped the team to overcome India after Virender Sehwag Sri was rejected at first. Vice captain Gautam Gambhir was bowled by Perera on 97

runs in the last World Cup match at Wankhede stadium packed on Saturday.
Earlier, Mahela Jayawardene reached an unbeaten 103 off 88 balls as Sri Lanka set India a stiff target of 275 runs to win the World Cup final at the Wankhede stadium packed on Saturday.

Jayawardene's 14th one-day percent led Sri Lanka to 274-6 after skipper Kumar Sangakkara has won an important toss and elected to bat on a slow wicket which has hampered decision time.

Nuwan Kulasekara Tailenders (32 off 30 balls) and Thisara Perera (22 off nine) helped Sri Lanka smash 63 runs in the last five acquisitions in the power play to leave India 5.50 directs a course hunting under lights.
