Flamboyant left-hander Yuvraj Singh was ruled player World Cup 2011 for his prodigious spectacle all-triumphant Indian team at the end of the tournament on Saturday. India defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in the shock at the top with 10 balls to spare chasing the target of 275 in 48.2 overs at Wankhede Stadium, the biggest success in a race the World Cup final.
In nine matches, including six in the league phase, Yuvraj has amassed 362 runs and took 15 wickets with his slow bowling to appear as the man with the golden arm for his country winning the World Cup glory for the second time in their history.
The jury of five members of the International Cricket Council that the cricketer anointed 29-year-old Chandigarh-born child, who bagged four men of the match award in the tournament for the coveted honor was composed of the ICC Cricket manager Dave Richardson Umpire Aleem Dar, the referee Ranjan Madugalle and journalists Chritopher Martin-Jenkins and Anand Vasu.
Victorious Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was declared the man of the final blow to his unbeaten 91 in 79 balls with eight fours and two sixes.
