Cup Controversy: India got the original trophy, ICC says

MUMBAI: It was much more dramatic if the World Cup as the champions can not ask is a replica or real.

It has been suggested in the media that the original Cup is lying with the Customs Service because of non-payment of fees on the Cup. Gold and Silver Cup home is valued at $ 130,000.

The International Cricket Council, however, rejected these allegations, claiming that the real Cup was awarded to the champions.

"Contrary to some erroneous and mischievous media reports, the ICC can not confirm the trophy awarded to India Wankhede Stadium on Saturday was the origin of the 2011 Cricket World Cup trophy and one who was always destined to be handed the winner of the event, "the statement read by the ICC.

"There is no doubt that it was a replica. The trophy awarded to India is in fact the logo of the specific event Cricket World Cup 2011 and has always been the cup's 14 teams played for, "the statement added.
