Three blasts kill 7 in DG Khan shrine


Dera Ghazi Khan: Three consecutive explosions in a Sufi shrine in Dera Ghazi Khan killed at least seven people and injured over 30 on Sunday, reports NEW ARY.

Officials said the first explosion took place near the main door of the temple Sakhi Sarwar, where many people were gathered to celebrate annual Urs (festival) of the Sufi saint.

A few minutes later, two more explosions occurred after back to back in the temple premises.

September faithful, including women and children, were killed in three explosions.

The people of the area and police began rescue operations. At least 30 injured were transferred to hospitals nearby, and eleven are said to be critical.

Nature of the explosion has not yet been put in place by officials.

DCO Iftikhar Ahmed said that nearly 35 injured were transported to the hospital district headquarters where the emergency has been declared.

In the wake of the incident, doctors in the area preserved and restored their services despite their strike at the provincial level in fevour their claims.

Sakhi Sarwar is a municipal council and the union of Dera Ghazi Khan district of Punjab province where the shrine is located.
