Obama to lay out his case on Libya to nation


WASHINGTON: The White House said the U.S. military involvement in Libya is not a precedent for how the U.S. will undertake similar uprisings in other countries across the Middle East.

Deputy national security adviser Denis McDonough said the judges of directors of each situation separately and according to what is in the best interest of the United States, he says he is not prepared for the United States of intervene militarily in Syria, where security forces crack down on demonstrators.

McDonough spoke at the White House before the president's speech Monday night Barack Obama on his rationale for U.S. military involvement in Libya. Officials are reluctant to discuss details of Obama's speech, including whether Obama would establish a timetable to end military action by the United States.

McDonough said that Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton would be to discuss an exit strategy at a key international meeting in London Tuesday.
