Microsoft releases new Internet Explorer 9 browser
Austin: Microsoft has released the latest version of its Internet Explorer Web browsing software free online late Monday, hoping to fend off the challenges of the past, Firefox and Google Chrome.
"IE9 just released worldwide," said a loud voice cheering crowd at 11:00 pm Monday (0400 GMT Tuesday) in the Austin city limits Live Concert Hall, where the launch party in custody.
Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) was available for download in 30 languages in beautyoftheweb.com.
"Things are going to change," Microsoft corporate vice president of Dean Hachamovitch said a few days ago at a press conference in the South by Southwest Interactive festival of technology here.
"We took a dramatically different direction," he continued. "This is a really good day for the Web."
IE9 built to make the most of the latest operating system from Microsoft, Windows 7, and graphics processing chips that can power video, games and graphics.
A long list of partners that have adapted IE9 sites include Facebook, Twitter, Pandora, Hulu, and Yahoo, according to Microsoft.
"We are working with partners to achieve billion active Internet users," Hachamovitch said. "All of these partners use IE9, to make a beautiful web, starting today."
More than 40 million copies IE9 already been downloaded as part of the process leading to its official release, according to Microsoft.
Microsoft has revealed meat, muscle new Internet Explorer is designed to highlight the slick Web sites and recaptured the competition from Firefox and Google.
