India Resume Peace Talk With Pakistan

NEW DELHI: India and Pakistan agreed to resume peace talks that were suspended by New Delhi after the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, Indian sources said on Thursday, a step forward in improving relations, the influence of regional security.

The decision was taken at the talks this week between the two countries' top foreign officials of an office in the capital of Bhutan, Thimphu.


"New negotiations entered into force on the formal resumption of composite dialogue," a senior Indian government official involved in repairing relations with Pakistan, he said, referring to the 2004 peace initiative.

Pakistani officials have not confirmed the power would be a decision, but said that progress had been made.

New Delhi suspended in 2004, the peace process between the two sides after the attack in the commercial capital of India in 2008.

Analysts say the United States training of troops from Afghanistan, the pressure on India and Pakistan to step back from their rivalry even more than looking for the settlement of the Kashmir.
