16th day Egypt protests


Cairo: Anti-government protests in troubled Egypt introduced its 16 day in a row as the liberation of Cairo area remains flooded with demonstrators who demand immediate overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak.

Thousands of protesters still camped out in the main square in Cairo, as they refuse to stop their campaign to oust the beleaguered Egyptian president.

As the Egyptians on the street in the 16 th consecutive day, the newly appointed vice-president Omar Suleiman said that the Government can not tolerate the protests for a long time.


Suleiman made the remark that, over 50.000 protesters on Tuesday blocked the newly appointed Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq enter his office in the Egyptian capital, and called for his immediate resignation, and everyone else in the room.

Huge crowds on Tuesday also passed to the Interior Ministry and the parliament building in the capital, despite promises to the government on constitutional reforms and offer higher wages for public sector employees.

Sulaiman also announced that the Government has a plan and timetable for the peaceful transfer of power.

The second largest city of Egypt, Alexandria was also the scene of the popular protest against the regime. Many protesters are angry at the U.S. position with respect to the current rebellion in his country.

Thousands of Egyptian workers went on strike in the cities of Suez and Ismailia.
