Texas: Enormous fire burns at Texas Chemical Plant

Texas: Firefighters were addressing a huge fire at a chemical plant near Houston, Texas.

It follows a series of explosions that ripped the plant in Mont Belvieu, which is located about 35 miles east of the city.

Mont Belvieu is a major natural gas liquids storage center, located north of the Houston Ship Canal and near a number of refineries.

The explosions occurred about 12:25 pm local time, said Hou. No injury reports were released. Chambers County officials have called for the evacuation, although the State Highway 146 near the plant was closed, said Hou.

Houston-based Enterprise Products owns nearly 50,000 miles of natural gas and 27 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage facilities. The Company is not a statement about the incident.
