Plane crash in Russia kills at least 5


At least five people were killed and four others were seriously injured in a plane crash in western Siberia, Russian commission of inquiry said Monday on its website.

The aircraft had 33 passengers Angara Airlines on its flights to Surgut Tomsk, the committee said.

Preliminary results suggest the accident was caused by a fire engine, the committee said.

Investigators and forensic experts working on the site of the accident, the report said.

Russian state television reported earlier Monday that the Antonov-24 had landed hard on the surface of the river Ob less than a mile from the village of Medvedevo in the Siberian region of Tomsk-west.

The landing resulted in the partial wreckage, the report of television, citing emergency officials.
