Facebook announcement is good timing for Skype
MySpace (remember?) Founder, Tom Anderson has his own thoughts about the battle between the social network, Facebook, and new suitor, the Google search engine.
Anderson refers to the announcement of Facebook last week that they were adding Skype video chat. According to PCMag.com, Anderson said MySpace was a video of a cat in 2004 and had Skype video calls in 2007.
"People were not ready for that at the time it is now time, and FB has a user base," said Anderson.
CNN reports the version of Skype Facebook will appear as a "call" button at the top of the profile pages of users. By clicking on one or find someone in a new "buddy list" on the right, Facebook users with webcams can have visual conversations. Facebook has added new service to millions of users on Wednesday and plans to add several time.
The New York Times reported that Facebook does not allow more than two to participate in video chats. Skype group chats, but it costs $ 9 per user per month. Facebook does not warn users that some computers may have compatibility issues with hardware or software service.
Last post by Tom Anderson of MySpace was on March 1.
On his Facebook page, which seems wrong, he says, "I started MySpace in 2003, it sold in 2005 to NewsCorp for $ 580 million, and stayed there to continue until April 2009. Now a new owner bought MySpace for News Corp. I am not a fan of the new MySpace, if the heart of the team was the right place. Maybe the new owner has good ideas. "
According to startribune.com, Skype is taking a calculated risk to expand its user base. Get access to 750 million Facebook users would remove Skype, which has about 170 million active users.
Skype is also planning to launch fee-based services on Facebook, such as the ability to call any phone while using Facebook.
