The Dancing With the Stars Season 12 Winner is ...

This has been a season of Dancing with the Stars to remember.

Injuries. Drama. The personal stories that we offer. The movements on the ground that thrilled us. A star cast endearing and homogeneous as the field was as competitive as it was entertaining from the start.

But there could be only one champion Season 12. Somewhat surprising since it was just a point of perfection on Monday and appeared to be the dark horse to win, Chelsea Kane finished in third place.

This leaves Kirstie Alley, who finished with five points lower than the other finalists, but was a fan favorite all season, Hines Ward cons for the crown.

Talk about each game. Anyone willing to bet on this?

They jumped in the air and hugged as confetti fell. Pittsburgh Steelers star praised Johnson, who fought a bad neck injury this month, as "an extraordinary teacher," and thanked the judges "to give us constructive criticism."

"I would also like to thank all the fans," he said.

Kirstie Alley, who finished second with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, said: "This most extraordinary adventure I've ever been in my life."
