Blast near Delhi high court, no casualties reported
A low intensity explosion occurred outside the Delhi High Court Wednesday. No casualties were reported so far. The explosion took place in a plastic bag held by a silver Ford Figo in the parking lot near gate number seven of the court building. The explosive, stored in a package of nearly one car belonging a lawyer, exploded at 13:15 causing panic, police said.
The car caught fire after the explosion.
The staff of the special cell of Delhi Police, the anti-terrorism unit and bomb detection and disposal unit were immediately rushed to the site with firefighters.
Delhi Police Special Commissioner (Law and Order) Dharmendra Kumar, said the explosion was caused by a low intensity explosive in which nobody was injured. "It was not a breath of life-threatening ... It was the explosion of a small ... The explosion occurred in a small plastic bag, "he said.
"The bag was kept out of the car, right next to the hood," Kumar, even adding the car was not damaged by it.
He said that the quantity is unknown and the samples were sent for forensic examination.
