ROCK MUSIC MENU: Record Store Day: Check these picks


Do you have an iPad? Cool - there are many good ways to access new songs on this thing. What is a smartphone? We had these? Right in the palm of your hand, you can download songs, sync them to your media library, and rock music on the go.

But what about the record store? Ever get your music that way? Well if you really do not enjoy interacting with fellow music fans, holding physical product in your hands and feel the atmosphere of rock and roll swirling around you, then the gap in the ear headphones and head for a Saturday - because it is rendered Store Day.

Traditionally celebrated every third Saturday of April, Record Store Day is now celebrated pleasure for music lovers who are lucky enough to participate in the unique culture surrounding more than 700 independent record stores owned by the United States, and hundreds of stores internationally comparable as they meet with artists to celebrate the art of music.

"The indie record stores are the backbone of the culture of recorded music," said Joan Jett. "That's where we're going to network, browse around and find new songs to the love. Any artist that does not support my wonderful and record stores per year across America contributes to our own extinction. "
