Juhi Chawla talks on her film I AM

Juhi Chawla will be seen playing a Kashmiri Pandit in Onir of I AM. The actor chats about what made her pick up an offbeat film and raise funds for its implementation.

What you turn associate producer of I AM?
I worked with before Onir (My Brother Nikhil). It makes different movies, but ones that interest you. When he wanted to do I AM there was a new way of approaching people in the world (via social networking sites) and fundraising. So I thought also to contribute a little. See, we say, "I love", "I believe in him, so I said, 'Let's put money where his mouth is and wrote a small check. And that's fine. I'm glad I could show him in action that I believe in him. And as a bonus, I also became the associate producer of the film. (Laughter)

Did you find a movie theme safer to invest your money?
I am a hardcore commercial film. I do not think every time there is a problem the next day, a film must be done about it ... Hona ke chahiye aisa nehin heavy themes gayi ban the film. A film must be engaging. There must be entertainment ... is good if it is not a comedy ... but when I go to the cinema, the film should keep interested ... the filmmaker must be telling the story in a way that I want to get up from my seat. Now when I see a movie as I am, that's when I say I want to contribute. I'm not contributing to something that does not interest me.
