Aisam, Rohan in semis of ATP Masters


MONTE CARLO: Pakistan, tennis star of the participant, Aisam-ul-Haq in collaboration with Rohan Bopanna Indians roared into the semifinals of the Masters Cup ATP Tennis Championship defeating second-seeded Canadian Daniel Nestor and Belarussian Max Mirnyi at the Mote Carlo tennis complex.

Aisam and partner scored 6-1, 7-5 victory against former world number one duo in one hour and ten minutes on the red clay.

In the semi final and Aisam Rohan will face Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina and Brazil Bruno Soares.

Max Mirny has three Grand Slams and 35 Masters level and Tour doubles titles to his credit, while Daniel Nestor has five Grand Slam titles and 67 Masters level Tour to his credit.

The Pak-Indian Express won the toss and chose to serve. A 1-2 they broke Nestor, OSA used to take a lead of 1-3. They again broke serve their opponents, this time it was Mirny, OSA at 1-4 to take a 5-1 lead, then Aisam made no mistake in finishing the game in just 21 minutes.

In the second set they broke Nestor OSA serve at 1-1 to take a 2-1 lead but was immediately broken back and leveled at 2-2.

They again broke their opponents at 3-3 - to take the lead 4-3 but while serving for the set and the match at 5-4 Nestor and Mirny flashingly again hit back to score back to even at 5-5.

The duo's early AISAM and Rohan continued to respond with a good serve and broke again to serve their rivals 6-5.

While serving at 6-5 in less than a step Indopak Express looked vulnerable at 0-30, but they are recomposed and took the next four points to close the set and match. They bagged a total of 62 points while the losers are left with 52.

Aisam and Rohan saved 6 of 8 break points they have been exposed to any Nestor and Mirny recorded in 9 of the 14 break points they faced.
