World Cup: Sri Lanka survive Kiwis late assault to reach final



COLOMBO: Sri Lanka has managed to reach the World Cup final for the second straight time after avoiding assault end bowling by New Zealand R Premadasa Stadium here on Tuesday.

Chasing 218, the co-hosts have achieved the goal of beating the Kiwis by five wickets with 13 balls to spare in the first day-night semi-final.

Opens Tillekaratna Dilshan (73) and captain Kumar Sangakkara hit half cneturies to guide Sri Lanka to qualify for the World Cup final for the third time.

Earlier, they won the final in 1996 in Lahore, Pakistan, and he lost in 2007 in Kingston, Jamaica.
