Syrian govt resigns: state TV

DAMASCUS: Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has accepted the resignation of the government on Tuesday, Syrian state television said.

"President Assad accepted the resignation of the government," an announcement on state television.

Assad was to address the nation later Tuesday or Wednesday in a speech which may include a decision to abolish the emergency laws, after two weeks of demonstrations for democracy prevailing in the country.
