Two workers injured at Japanese nuke plant

TOKYO: Nuclear officials said three workers were exposed to radioactive elements to the plant by the tsunami paralyzed from Japan and two of them were injured and sent to hospital for treatment.

Fumio Matsuda, a spokesman for the nuclear safety agency, said the workers were injured while laying electric cables on Thursday at the central unit 3 of the Fukushima Dai-chi. Two of them were exposed to radioactive elements on the skin of their feet, and taken to hospital for treatment.

Matsuda said the workers were exposed to radiation levels of 180 mSv, which is less than the maximum of 250 mSv that the government is to allow workers from the factory.

About two dozen people have been injured since the plant began to sink after suffering radiation damage tsunami on March 11.
