India vs Australia in Cricket World Cup 2011 quarter-final today
Ahmedabad: India co-organized beating defending champions Australia in the quarterfinals of the World Cup at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad today.
Record in head-to-one lead Australia 61-35 in India. Defending champions have also won seven and lost two matches in the World Cup.
Australia imports from India 22-21 iIn matches held in the subcontinent.
India have a 5-7 win-loss record ONV Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad and have not won their last four matches here.
Virender Sehwag (327 runs at a strike rate of 125.28) and Sachin Tendulkar (326 runs with eight sixes so far) have paved the way for India. They lead in terms of strike rate for stands open (109.9) and run rate powerplays 1 and 2 (6.4 and 6.0 respectively).
Yuvraj Singh (284 at an average of 94.66) has already scored a century and three fifties. Zaheer Khan is the second tournament the highest wicket taker with 15 so far wickets/20.6 strike rate, but his famous spin frontline colleagues have already flopped. Part-time spinner Yuvraj has been most successful with nine wickets.
Brad Haddin (279 runs) and Shane Watson (265 tracks) of lead along the scoring for Australia. Michael Clarke (225 rpm average of 112.5) has also returned to form.
Australia relied on fast bowlers with Brett Lee (12 wickets/22.8 strike rate), Mitchell Johnson and Shaun Tait (10 wickets each) leading the hunt bowling.
Australian spinners Jason KREJZA and Steven Smith have the worst strike rate of spinners (79.8 balls per wicket).
