Bomb explodes near Jerusalem bus, 30 hurt

TEL AVIV: A bomb exploded near a bus stop in a Jewish neighborhood of Jerusalem on Wednesday, wounding at least 30 people, police and doctors.
Police described the blast as a "terrorist attack" - a term Israel for a Palestinian strike. It was the first such bombing in Jerusalem in seven years.
It was not claimed responsibility for the blast, which police said was caused by a bomb placed near the Jerusalem hotel and conference center bus terminal.
At the height of a Palestinian uprising that began in 2000 but died in recent years, militants carried out dozens of often deadly attacks in Jerusalem.
The explosion, which coincided with an outbreak of violence along the border between Israel and Gaza, shook the center of Jerusalem in the afternoon. Dozens of ambulances rushed to the scene, where windows of a bus were shattered and bloodstained pavement.
"(We believe), the device weighs about 1-2 pounds .... It exploded in a small suitcase on the sidewalk near the bus stop, "Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch told Israel's Channel 2 television.
A paramedic said he was meeting with colleagues in a nearby office to discuss sending a medical team from the disaster hit the Japanese when they heard a loud explosion.
"We did not wait even for one second, we just got up and ran to the bus station. I saw two women lying on the ground, unconscious and covered in blood," the nurse, Motti Bukchi, told Israel's Channel Two television.
"I can not say what kind of injuries they suffered, they were completely covered in blood."
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed his departure for Russia after the incident. He had been scheduled to hold talks with Russian leaders in Moscow on Thursday and return
