Sri Lanka, New Zealand eye top spots in group
MUMBAI: Sri Lanka and injury-hit New Zealand have their eyes firmly on the top two places in their group when they clash in the World Cup in Mumbai Wankhede Stadium on Friday.
Both teams have won their last four points in Group A, a fierce battle is on the cards for the last two points on offer, which will determine their position in the table and with it their opponents in the knockout phase .
The Kiwis, who had an easy route with their only defeat coming against champions Australia will be without their captain and spinner Daniel Vettori leading regular and paceman Kyle Mills for Friday's game.
The Islanders will have a slight advantage in this match with all their batsmen among the runs and the bowlers Lasith Malinga managed by key and Muttiah Muralitharan have found their rhythm.
