NASA declares contingency in satellite launch
Vandenberg Air Force Base, California: NASA TV reported that a rocket was launched for Earth observation satellite has the speed to reach orbit.
Vandenberg Air Force Base officials say the Taurus XL rocket holding NASA's Glory satellite is lifted about 2:10 am PST on Friday with the base.
But NASA launch commentator George Dillar said after 15 minutes, the payload power is not separate from the glory of the ship and, consequently, it does not have the speed to reach orbit.
He says the director Omar Baez start calling for a contingency plan for the spacecraft. Flight status was not immediately clear.
NASA officials refused to comment when reached Associated Press, speaking a press statement will be forthcoming.
Glory was launched three years, the mission to analyze how the airborne particles affect the Earth's climate. In addition, monitoring of particles in the atmosphere, it will also track the solar radiation to determine the effects of the sun to climate change.
