Hillary Clinton warns against U.S. abandonment of Pakistan

Washington: (APP) U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned against the failure of Pakistan once again, as she urged Capitol Hill to back a request for assistance in the administration's key allies, including Islamabad, "We are trying to deepen our relationship .. there are many challenges facing us, but we know what happens when we walk away from Pakistan. We done it before, and the results were unfortunately quite difficult for us, "she told lawmakers in testimony before Committee. In House Appropriations Pakistan, she said , United States "continues to demonstrate its commitment to a lasting strategic partnership focused on economic, military and police aid to help eradicate the extremists and the support of other important investments."
In response to a question she said the reaction of the legislator, when Minority Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti was killed was much more in line with what I would expect and hope for a country that when someone was a patriot who stood up for the rights of all Pakistanis including minorities, the minority Christian and Muslim minority communities, was killed, people are really saying, and were quite upset. "
Clinton said the U.S. was in Pakistan is difficult.
"When I became secretary of state, I realized that our social status was low in-was the lowest in Pakistan from any country in the world. There are many reasons for this."
"But one of the problems was, we were not really trying to answer a lot of criticism and many charges. So when the question came, I think, from this side, the increase in staff, I mean, we are stepping up our public diplomacy . We have a great story to tell about America, and we're going to continue he said. And we say it in very difficult circumstances.
"But our situation in Pakistan is very difficult, because there's so much going on inside the country. And when I was here for the first time in '09, I said that the Pakistanis need to take on the extremists within their own country. And they did it .
"So there are things that change, but it's a long way to go."
