Coalition strikes killed 114 in four days: Libya

TRIPOLI (AFP) At least 114 people were killed and 445 wounded in four days of strikes by the coalition on Libya, a senior Ministry of Health.

"From March 20 to March 23, raids (the coalition) has killed 114 people and injured 445 others," the official, Khaled Omar, during a news conference in the Libyan capital.

But he was unable to say how many were civilians and how many were military.

Omar said 104 people were killed in Tripoli and its suburbs between Sunday and Wednesday, while 10 were killed in Sirte, the hometown of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, some 600 kilometers (372 miles) south of the capital.

A spokesman for the government, which provides a preliminary assessment, said Thursday that about 100 "civilians" were killed in raids by coalition forces launched Saturday against Gaddafi.
