Christina Aguilera was arrested for public intoxication on Tuesday morning and jailed for his own safety, until she recovered. Her boyfriend was also arrested for investigation of DUI.
singer was released from custody at the station sheriff's West Hollywood around 7:30 am, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff Steve Whitmore, spokesman.
"We do not want to prosecute, none whatsoever. It is only for the public safety issue," says Whitmore. "When she was able to focus and think independently and make their own way, she was released."
Aguilera, 30, was a passenger in a car from a friend Matthew Rutler, who was stopped at 2:45 am when deputies spotted driving erratically. Both were booked, Aguilera for public intoxication, Rutler for DUI.
"She was not able to care for themselves. She was incapacitated," says Whitmore. "It was a joint. It was not a belligerent in any form. She was just drunk."
By law, a person can be detained if they can not take care of themselves, "he says.
"As she got better, she simply said:" I would like to leave, "said Whitmore, and deputies to grant her request.
