Shahid Afridi has been fined 20 percent match fee
NEW DELHI: Pakistan were fined for their slow over rate during their 11-run win over Sri Lanka in the World Cup, International Cricket Council said on Sunday.
Captain Shahid Afridi was fined 20 per cent of match fee while his teammates would lose 10 percent after Pakistan was one short of their goal at the end of the match when time allowances were taken into account, ICC said.
ICC said the charge was accepted by Pakistan, without competition, and there was no need for a hearing.
slow speed is listed as a misdemeanor in the ICC code of conduct.
Pakistan won the match by defeating Sri Lanka by 11 runs.
