this environment birthday of the great Dr. Seuss, and Seussville
In this environment birthday of the great Dr. Seuss, and Seussville prepares for day of celebration. author of the legendary children's turns 107, if he is still around. And he is likely to mark the event constituting the silly rhymes are filled with an ideal combination of real words and invented them.
But it's more than just his silly rhymes that made Dr. Seuss the icon that he is. It also called on those rhymes were for generations and generations of young readers. There has never been anyone more influential literary kids, than a great doctor. And probably never will. But why?
I think it boils down to three things.
Everyone loves to rhyme. It's true. And not only that, but also thinks he can rhyme. But few attempts to do so with brevity and meter in mind, two things that made Dr. Seuss rhyme anything "short brilliant. He never wasted words - his stories continue to evolve and, as you were told these events to your children, the words practically read themselves. There is never a stone or another kind of cadence, and there is no manipulation of words to make them flow or rhyme better. There's no need because of the good doctor.
Easy: You know that Cat in the Hat, but has 50 words in it? Think about that for a second. Fifty words that make up the classic tale. Not surprisingly, ate young audiences for decades and decades. It is not only fun to rhyme, but it's just one of which contains very few words - words that every young reader can easily digest.
Imagination: It's hard to believe that something as fundamental and as simple as a poem, written in simple to understand words can be so complicated when it comes to imagination. But this is exactly what Dr. Seuss delivers his epic tales. As Horton. The main character, elephant, splashing in the pool in the jungle Nool, when he hears a speck of dust, which is a tiny planet where someone-Ville is located? That's about as creative as it gets.
As we approach Dr. Seuss' birthday, many will be celebrating in different ways. Me? I wrote a poem to my wife about her pregnancy in the format of Green Eggs and Ham, as a way to pay tribute to Dr. Seuss. But instead of Sam-I-am vexed character daddy-I-be, who clings to my poor wife, and not about green eggs and ham, and about her pregnancy.
