Davis case

LAHORE: The court on Friday postponed the hearing of the murder charges against a U.S. citizen, Raymond Davis until March 3, who shot two people in Lahore last month.

The hearing will be held in jail Cote Lakhpat for security reasons.

"The court adjourned the hearing until March 3, after we handed over a copy of the indictment to Raymond Davis," prosecutor Abdul Samad told AFP.

He said that Davis refused to sign the copy, and insisted that he had immunity.

"Davis filed a petition to the court, stating that he has immunity. The Court received the application and adjourned the hearing, Additional Attorney General Abdul Samad said.

The judge sent Davis to appear with his lawyer in the next hearing. Charges will be framed against a U.S. citizen at the next hearing on March 3.

Raymond Davis, former special forces officer, said that he acted in self-defense when he shot men on a busy street in the eastern city of Lahore last month. He was charged with double murder and faces possible execution. Washington says that he has diplomatic immunity and should be repatriated.
