UCO Sets 2011 Volleyball Schedule

EDMOND (June 8) - Central Oklahoma will meet six returning national tournament teams during the 2011 season of volleyball that the Bronchos will play 10 home games, according to the schedule released Wednesday.

 UCO, which has six returning players from 20 to 11 last year, the team will play as independents NCAA Division II this fall before the school joined the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association in 2012 -13.

 The Bronchos of the eighth head coach Jeff Boyland will play in four tournaments and start 33-game schedule at Missouri Southern Invitational in Joplin, Missouri on September 2-3. UCO made his debut at home Sept. 6 against Southeast Oklahoma.

 "It was a challenge that make up a schedule without conference affiliation, but we came up with a good that will certainly test us," said Boyland, who is at the helm 173-90 UCO. "We go to some tournaments really good and were actually able to get more home games we had last year. "

 The Bronchos will face a return to Division II national tournament qualification Colorado School of Mines, Northwest Missouri, Emporia State, Truman State, Rollins and Saint Mary during the season, with all these road games.

 UCO home games after September 13 will SOSU (Arkansas-Fort Smith), September 23 (Oklahoma City), Oct. 5 (Oklahoma Panhandle), Oct. 7 (Harding), October 9 (Texas Permian Basin), Oct. 11 (Newman) , Oct. 26 (Southwest Oklahoma), November 1 (Dallas Baptist) and November 8th (center-east).
