Russian spy Anna Chapman turns editor
Former Russian spy Anna Chapman, who was arrested for spying and deported from the United States, was appointed editor of a "small" newspaper in Russia.
In a statement posted on the newspaper's website Venture Business News, Chapman has promised to
"Significantly increase" traffic and improve media and the general content of the newspaper.
"I became the editor. This is a small newspaper, "Chapman said, admitting she has not yet plans for its future use.
As editor, Chapman will be in charge of a new New Field column discussing the major events in the business and investment in Russia and abroad.
The former spy said she would like to lead the newspaper to "promote a positive image of young entrepreneurs, innovators and managers of technology businesses."
Chapman and 10 other Russians were arrested in the United States in June 2010 on suspicion of espionage. In July, they were returned to Russia in exchange for four men accused by Moscow of spying for foreign intelligence services in Russia.
Chapman had already become an adviser to President Fondservicebank Volovnik Alexander. She also joined the Board of Public Youth Movement Young Guard of United Russia party.
She later became a TV host of "Mysteries of the World with Anna Chapman" REN TV show.
