AP Source: Rubio agrees to terms with Timberwolves

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Ricky Rubio is coming to Minnesota, after all.

The Spanish playmaker has agreed to join the Timberwolves next season, ending a breath, delicate negotiation for two years with the team that the league observers believe that many would not play Minnesota.

A person with knowledge of the agreement confirmed to the Associated Press Wednesday night that Rubio will be here next season, given the Timberwolves Woebegone much needed dose of good news. The person requested anonymity because neither Rubio nor the Timberwolves planned an official announcement, but continues to play for Regal Barcelona in the Spanish League playoffs.

The Timberwolves drafted Rubio fifth two years ago, despite the Spanish takeover of his contract that exceeded $ 6 million. The enormity of the redemption caused Rubio to stay abroad rather than immediately come to the NBA, and there was talk that the teenager did not want to play early in Minnesota.

The uncertainty of the current work complicate the negotiations. But Rubio has finally decided he was ready to come now.

Timberwolves spokesman Mike Cristaldi said the team was declining comment.

"For now, we have nothing new to report," Cristaldi said.

The news marks the end with success to a long and often tortuous, and between the Timberwolves daliance Rubio. With the help of the owner, Glen Taylor, the coach Kurt Rambis and assistant general manager Tony Ronzone, wolves President David Kahn has spent nearly two years to convince Rubio to realize his dream of playing in the NBA in Minnesota.
