After meeting in March, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald began a whirlwind romance - and now they have taken the next step.

The star of Breaking Dawn, 23, and her beautiful American Idol alum, 26, are engaged, a source confirms E! 's Marc Malkin.

Posing MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, the couple unveiled a sparkler on the ring finger left Reed, with Reed E! say, "That's him."

And to those who fear that the couple may be moving too fast, the actress - who is reportedly house hunting with McDonald - has an answer.

"I love him and I do not, " Reed said people in May.

"I've never met anyone like him. I've never met anyone who has such a good strong heart and is such a good strong family and is just a real person. We have the exact same sense of humor. I never laughed so much with someone I'm with him. "
