Two U.S. troops believed expired by drone in Afghanistan
Washington - The death of two American soldiers in Afghanistan last week the South is being studied as a possible friendly fire incident, a spokesman for NATO's International Security Assistance Force said.
The U.S. military briefed relatives, it is possible that the men were accidentally killed Wednesday by a missile fired from an unmanned military outside the United States in Afghanistan Sangin in Helmand province, according to spokesman Captain Donald Ryan.
The men were identified as Marine Staff Sgt. Jeremy Smith, assigned to the 4th Marine Division in Houston, and Navy Corpsman Benjamin Rast of the 2nd Marine Division in San Diego.
Donald strongly stressed on Monday the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation and no formal conclusions were established.
