Two billion to watch royal wedding
A British minister said Wednesday that more than a quarter of the world population was expected to watch television royal wedding this month between Prince William and Kate Middleton. Spokesman for Prime Minister David Cameron said a figure of 2 billion people have been provided by culture
secretary Jeremy Hunt told a cabinet meeting at which he also said that preparations for April 29 wedding went well.
"The culture secretary has said ... (marriage) is likely to be a major world event seen by nearly 2 billion people around the world, " the spokesman said.
Some 750 million people have seen the father of William, heir to the throne Prince Charles to marry Princess Diana in 1981, while some reports have suggested that as many 2.5 billion watched the funeral of Diana in 1997.
There are about 6.9 billion people worldwide, according to figures on the website of the U.S. Census Bureau
