Russell Brand comes of age in Arthur remake


LOS ANGELES: Thirty years after Dudley Moore brought the world "Arthur" Russell Brand is breathing new life into the playboy drunk, in what might be called a new era for the British actor recently married.

The original "Arthur" has taken nearly 100 million at U.S. box office and won two Oscars in 1981: Best Supporting Actor for John Gielgud and best theme song for the Burt Bacharach tune "Better than you can do."

With the remake, Friday the United States before its release in Europe and Asia, the brand says it was aware of what he had to match its performance.

"Arthur" is a beautiful film and Dudley Moore's performance is emblematic. So, no pressure, but a duty. And it is a duty we take very seriously, "the flamboyant former stand-up comic told AFP in Beverly Hills.

"I know the film very well, he was one of my favorites as a kid ... It was more a privilege than a pressure."

Arthur is a young millionaire playboy party too busy in New York, accumulating conquests romantic or just get drunk to pay much attention to his family honor.

But he is forced to take his duties seriously when his mother drives him to marry the rich and adapted Susan, played by Jennifer Garner, when he discovers true love in the arms of my heart, but poor Naomi (Greta Gerwig) .
