Underwood makes acting debut in Soul Surfer
NASHVILLE, Tenn.: Carrie Underwood was satisfied with his performance, acting first on the big screen.
The country music star plays a modest but essential in the movie "Soul Surfer," the inspiring story of shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton.
"I am pleased with myself for the role and the film," Underwood said Monday night in Las Vegas where she had just wrapped recording "ACM presents Girls' Night Out:. Superstar country's women "" Will I win an Oscar? No, it was so much fun and the important thing is to get the story out there. "
Underwood plays youth pastor Sarah Hill, a key figure in the life of Hamilton and recovery after the attack. Hamilton, then 13, lost his left arm when an 14-foot tiger shark, he snatched while she was surfing with friends in Hawaii.
"Soul Surfer" is the story of his recovery and triumphant return to the sport she loves.
Underwood said she was transfixed by the story and the message, which rise above other scripts and projects it has been prepared - and thus far refused.
The former "American Idol" champion has been evasive when asked if the film is the beginning of an acting career, though.
"You never know. I do not say anything anyway," said Underwood. "I am very busy with music and that's what I like is what I know. But you know what was special. It does not fit into my schedule at all, but we made time. It was so special. So if something really special happened, I will not say never. "
