WHO finds Japan radiation spread localised

BEIJING: The WHO estimates that the spread of radiation from a nuclear plant earthquake paralyzed in Japan remains localized and does not pose an immediate risk to human health, Michael O'Leary, the representative of China to the WHO said Friday.

Japan has faced in controlling the nuclear plant in Fukushima overheating battered by earthquake and tsunami last week. The authorities fear a major escape of radioactive pollution of the plant could pose a serious risk to health, and China and other neighboring countries have strengthened monitoring of radiation levels.
