LAHORE: A U.S. contractor for the CIA who shot and killed two Pakistanis, was released and he mysteriously flew to Afghanistan after the families of two deceased were the price of donated blood and the case was dropped.
Chaudhry Mushtaq, Superintendent Kot Lakhpat, said Davis left the jail with U.S. consular officials after the hearing.
Earlier today it was officially chargesheeted by the trial court on two charges of murder in Lahore.
Reports said Davis was transported by a special plane from the old terminal at Lahore airport and flew to Afghanistan. U.S. officials were unavailable for comment.
Punjab Law Minister said that the CIA contractor has been released on court order after paying Bloodmoney to the heirs of the deceased, what is allowed under Pakistani law.
"Davis is now free to go anywhere. He was pardoned by the family of the deceased."
Sanaullah said Davis was formally charged with murder before the families of two men killed were taken in the courtyard, where they signed the documents formally pardon him in exchange for money.
The judges then acquitted of all charges, he said.
However, counsel for the deceased family, Asad Manzoor Butt said that ARY NEWS parents of both men were forced to accept blood money from the U.S. authorities and they were under pressure to sign documents on monetary to forgive the shooter.
He said he was detained for over five hours in jail and the family of Faizan, Lahore killed by Davis, was forced to sign the document.
The Lahore High Court had rejected the petitions claiming diplomatic immunity for Davis after the Foreign Ministry have admitted they have no record of his diplomatic status.
The drop scene of today shows that the shooter was not enjoying diplomatic immunity that the United States had insisted.
Murder and possession of Raymond Allen Davis had strained relations between Pakistan and the United States and added to anti-American sentiment.
