Beating India in WC final a difficult task: Lankan coach
Sri Lanka coach Trevor Bayliss said that the last World Cup against hosts India was a "difficult task" and said both teams had an equal chance of winning at this point. "We played India on a number of occasions and beat them before on many occasions. (But) it (the last) is difficult," Bayliss said before the clash of titans in Asia.
Bayliss said the game was 50-50 at this stage, but the Sri Lankans were convinced to snatch a victory.
"This game is 50-50 at this stage. Obviously, there will be a lot of pressure on India to perform at home. We were able to do over the last two games and come out with two good wins. The boys are quite confident about their chances in this World Cup, "said Bayliss, who is preparing to leave after the World Cup.
"If we focus on what we do best so we can play good cricket and if we play good cricket, we will be very difficult to beat," he said.
The Australian-born coach said his team came out with flying colors when running in conditions cooker at home, it was the turn of India to do.
However, Bayliss said that the task was difficult, despite the fact that his team had beaten India on a number of occasions.
"Over the last three years we have played 35 matches and this will be the 36th person. We beat a number of occasions. Our guys are confident we can play well and win," added the coach Lanka.
