Australian Bollywood actress Tania Zaetta arrested
SYDNEY: Australian actress Tania Zaetta Bollywood was arrested Monday for obstructing police and public nuisance on an alleged disturbance at a nightclub in Queensland.
Zaetta, who recently moved back to Australia after several years based abroad, was arrested in Surfers Paradise on Monday morning, the Gold Coast Bulletin said.
"It seems a 41 year old from New South Wales was arrested for obstructing police and public nuisance," a spokesman for the Queensland police told AFP, without naming the woman.
According to a statement released by her management, Zaetta will "protest his innocence of the charges and defend the hard questions to the Court."
"She is eager to mount a defense and compensation by the matter through appropriate channels," the statement said.
"Any suggestion or conclusion by the media that alcohol played any role in this case are ridiculous and baseless."
Zaetta rose to prominence in Australia as host of the show Thurs Who Dares Wins, a program modeled on its British counterpart that required him to perform daring stunts.
More recently, she worked on a number of Bollywood productions including hit Charlie's Angels-style "Mr. Black, Mr. White" and one with megastar Amitabh Bachchan Indian "Bunty aur Babli".
It is due to address the Court on April 4.
