Conflict Over Surfer's Death

The family of surf legend Andy Irons is adamant the former world champion died of complications from heart disease - and nothing else - but the official autopsy report showed the drug had been factor.

Seven months after Irons died in a Dallas hotel room, the family of Andy Irons has today issued a statement explaining died of a heart attack caused by hardening of his coronary arteries. The family said he spoke with a prominent forensic doctor who explained Irons had a genetic predisposition to early development of heart disease ... which is solely responsible for the attack.

However, the toxicology report and autopsy of the Tarrant County Medical Examiner notes a second cause of death -. "Acute mixed drug ingestion"

According to the report, Irons Xanax and methadone in his system when he died ... with benzoylecgonine - a compound commonly produced by the body after consumption of cocaine.

Andy's wife said the Internet does not use methamphetamine, "it is likely that the substance was present in the cocaine he had swallowed."

Both parties seem to agree with dengue is not a factor - as speculated.

Irons was 32 years.

The situation is a carbon copy of the death of Billy Mays "- where the coroner ruled that the main cause of death was heart disease and the secondary was cocaine. Billy's family bitterly disputed the coroner's finding that drug-related.

  1. A World Surfing Champion has made a statement with his death scene. Sick, alone, on drugs, in a room at the airport trying to get back home. Reports of Dengue fever and the unsubstantiated rumor that Andy was put on an intravenous drip for hydration, and does not use the methamphetamine found in his body, were used to mislead the public, and enhance financial gain.
