A smiling Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived at Westminster Abbey on Wednesday evening, running through their wedding ceremony. The next time it will be for real.
Although there was a rehearsal for the military sooner, using a double Middleton, it was a rehearsal for the bride and groom.
William, 28, wore a gray suit and Middleton, 29, wore a black dress arriving in a chauffeur-driven Range Rover at sunset. Best Man's Prince Harry, 26, and the bridesmaid, Kate Middleton's sister Pippa, 27, arrived in a silver van. They were flanked by two motorcycle policemen.
It was their last rehearsal before the wedding on Friday, according to multiple news reports.
The crowd of spectators learned something was up when 12 officers marched to the entrance on one side of Westminster Abbey. They blocked the street near the cathedral that the vehicles pulled up.
"Everything stopped," said Cindy Rockwell Lake Oswego, Ore. "Then comes the crowd rushed There were so many people that you could hardly move; .. Everybody was trying to see "
William and Middletwon were quickly taken to a side entrance. "It was really surreal," said Carolyn Houghton, Medford, Ore. "In America, the crowd was screaming. But here, everyone was very calm and orderly. But I do wish they would have arrested and stirred for one minute. "
The couple remained in the cathedral for about 90 minutes, where they practiced the ceremony. Then they left - William returned home, and the position of his Middleton $ 8,000-a-night royal suite on the top floor of the Hotel Goring.
