Kadhafi sends message to Obama: report


TRIPOLI: Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi on Wednesday sent a message to President Barack Obama after the withdrawal of U.S. warplanes on Libya, the Libyan news agency JANA said news.

"The leader of the revolution (Gadhafi) on Wednesday sent a message to President Barack Obama after the U.S. withdraws from the aggressive, colonialist coalition crusade against Libya, " the agency said without specifying the contents of message.

The U.S. military Monday withdrew its fighters from the international air campaign in Libya, officials said, after NATO has asked Washington to continue the bombing for 48 hours.

The United States said it still considering whether to recognize the rebel National Transition Council as the legitimate government of Libya, a step that France, Qatar and Italy have already taken.

A senior U.S. diplomat arrived Tuesday in rebel-held eastern Libya for talks with the opposition about its political objectives and the provision of humanitarian assistance, the State Department.
