notorious Florida pastor Terry Jones has burning of the sacred Muslim scripture, the Quran.

by Boris Volkhonsky

The famous Florida Pastor Terry Jones has finally realized his long cherished dream and attended a public burning of the Muslim sacred scripture, the Koran.
The book burning was held Sunday in one of the churches in Florida and was the executor and friend Pastor Jones Pastor Wayne Sapp disciple. The trial was improvised about eight minutes, after which the "jury" has issued a guilty verdict. (Nauzubillah)
The Koran was "guilty" of many "crimes" and "sentenced" to be burned in public. The book itself had already been prepared, after being soaked in kerosene for several hours. Pastor Sapp lit it with a barbecue lighter and after ten minutes, the show was over.
It should be remembered that the Rev. Terry Jones, who oversaw the whole event, first advanced the idea of burning the Muslim holy book in the summer of 2010. His intention was to burn as many copies of the Koran on September 11, when the United States commemorated the anniversary 9/11-2001. At that time, he went so far as Barack Obama had to intervene and use all its influence to prevent the public performance of the work. Pastor Terry Jones back, called for a ceasefire and even promised that he will never intending to do.
But his initiative was not lost in vain. Some other Protestant pastors radicals carrying out his intention, and organized a public burning of the Koran on September 11, 2010.
Pastor Jones name has become well known by the public well beyond the borders of the United States. He became an icon to some and a guilty in the eyes of others. When the British ultra-nationalist and xenophobic English League for the Defence was invited to Britain earlier this year to participate in a session, the British Home Office denied him the right to enter the country.
Despite the promise he gave six months ago, this time Terry Jones has decided to revive its long-cherished dream. He even issued a notice to Muslims, saying it is to give them the right to defend their sacred book. When nobody answered, he went on "trial".
Although the incident did not attract much public attention - the media have largely ignored, and the "trial" itself was attended by more than 30 people who attended was quite aggressive.
"These people [the Muslims] to me are like monsters," said Jadwiga Schatz who expressed his ardent support of Terry Jones. "I hate these people."
What is also noteworthy is the fact that Pastor Jones could not have chosen a worse time to burn the Koran. It happened exactly the day the Western coalition began its operation against the Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
The operation itself is not the same unanimity in the U.S. with memories of the failures in Afghanistan and Iraq are still too fresh. More, Colonel Qaddafi has used it as an excuse to present the military action against his regime as a clash of civilizations, calling it a "new crusade".
Certainly, there is no reason to equate the military action (supported, among others, by several Muslim states) against a regime that follows the policy of genocide against its own people with the clashes between Christian Civilization Muslim and Middle Ages.
But cases such as the burning of the Koran Sunday may have an extremely negative impact on public opinion in the Muslim world to do too many people believe that Gaddafi may be right.
Although the number of followers Pastor Terry Jones could be minimal publicity attracted to such cases will definitely like the United States as a "new cross". And this is very unlikely to serve for the success of work of the West is trying to do in Libya.
Barack Obama has tried hard to avoid being represented in the same tones as his predecessor, who started two wars against Muslim countries. When finally he was forced to do so, he always tried to keep a profile as low as possible, leaving France and other European countries to play first violin.
And if we remember as someone who has followed the usual path of U.S. policy enforcement, Pastor Jones will be among those Obama should thank him for tarnishing his image.
